Lavinia did go on to tell us that there was one more family across the road, and they had two kids, one boy and one girl. The girl’s name was Victoria, and the boy’s name was Frank. Frank and Victoria had gotten polio one spring, and they both suffered now because of it. Frank had to walk with a crutch, and Victoria had a patch on one of her eyes. She lost the sight in one of her eyes, but the other one was fine. Ceci asked Lavinia how she knew this, and she said that she had actually met them one day, but had only learned this information about them when hearing Ma talk to their mother. Ma told Lavinia that the parent’s names were Joe and Loretta Clock. We all giggled when Lavinia told us a story about Pa and Ma inviting them over one time, a long time ago, and when they arrived, they had arrived exactly on time.

When Pa made mention of this, Joe had laughed and said, ‘With a name like clock, we kind of think it would be rude if we didn’t show on time.’
